The Annual Reports 15. March 2007, Redakce The Annual Reports 2013; 2011; 2010; 2009; 2008; 2007; 2006; 2005; 2004; 2003.
from 1 Jan 2012 till 31 Dec 2012 Activity of depositories and individual members of the Society between 1 Jan 2012 and 31 Dec 2012 Depository Bohumín - Miri Kocurová As of 31 Dec 2012 altogether 88 cats were in care of the depository Admissions: 133 cats Homes found for: 84 cats Vaccinations: 8 Spayed/neutered: 52 female cats and tom cats Medical treatment: 123 Deaths: 28 Together with depository Příbor, we took part in two adoption exhibitions during the International Cats Exhibition at Černá Louka; our thanks to SCHK Ostrava which made our attendance possible. We regularly attended flea markets at Černá Louka in Ostrava. Everywhere we were handing out leaflets drawing attention to the urgent need of controlling the cat population by means of neutering/spaying and of responsible care for them, and we promoted activities of our depository including our events, e.g. the depository’s open days. We started a profile on Facebooku, where we try to tackle the problem of abandoned cats. We also organize auctions to support our work and inform of our work. From FB Kamenné kočky /Stone Cats/ we got two gifts for our cats, for which we bought 2 superb scratchers, food and litter. Thank you!!! Together with OKD foundation we tiled the whole area of the depository up to 2 metres; the cats now live in much better hygienic conditions; we also participated in a marvelous carnival parade. With our old cat Wendy, we visit my mother; both much enjoy seeing each other and it cheers them up. With TV TIK Bohumín we succeeded in shooting a very nice program We Want to Go Home; TV Polar Tlapka filmed two times our cats in offer for adoption. We attended two splending nationwide events Tree of Cats‘ Wishes Come True; a lot of our cats got not only a gift but also some money for their food and some even found new homes. Our huge thanks to the team of the citizens association o.s. Devět životů /Nine Lives/ for a fantastic event. Two volunteers, Ms Karin Kleniarová from Petřvald and Ms Veronika Matuszná from Český Těšín, who care for abandoned cats in their surroundings, contacted us. Also several veterinary clinics provide us with much help. For their help including reduced prices and for their operations and care provided with love and sensitivity we thank them very much, namely to ABvet clinic Bohumín, CTVET clinic Český Těšín and veterinary surgery of MVDr. Robert Lakomý in Kopřivnice. We thank Municipal Office Bohumín for subsidies for neutering/spaying of abandoned cats. We thank all who help us. Depository Příbor - Václav Vlček As of 31 Dec 2012, altogether 59 cats were in care of the depository, of which: 39 adults and 3 outgrown kittens in the depository; 3 stray cats regularly visiting the depository premises; and 14 spayed/neutered shy cats at 3 outdoor sites. Admissions: 19 cats (12 kittens and 7 adults) Homes found for: 15 cats (7 kittens and 7 adults) Vaccinated: 14 adult cats and kitten Spayed/neutered: 17 (12 female cats and 5 tom cats) Medical treatment: 14 (10 kittens and 4 adults) Death: 1 elderly cat The kittens and cuddly cats are offered at the sites of the depository and of the First Society, on Facebook and in Avízo advertising paper. The activities of the depository had to be reduced during Autumn 2012, as one plot had to be returned to the owner after expiration of lease. The end of year was characterized by construction changes and by moving cats to the existing plot, whose size is insufficient due to the increased number of cats. The depository supported petition campaigns (including international ones) for the protection of animals and nature, including petition against entry of Czech gamekeeping in the UNESCO list. As usual, the depository took part in two adoption exhibitions in Ostrava and, for the seventh time, it organized the Homeless Animals Day commemorating deceased animals and those tortured to death. At all events educational materials were handed out; they are available to the public at several places. In the field of the Internet counselling, 161 queries were answered. Several cats donated blood to 2 diseased tomcats. The joyful news is that both of them recovered after the transfusions. We are constantly confronted with the same problems, e.g. destruction of equipment on the depository premises by minors; unbearable workload; increased numbers of adult cats and kitten for which no homes were found, which reduces the possibilities of admitting new cats and kitten. Financial problems were to a considerable extent solved thanks to great help from sponsors and donors. Till end of March 2013, construction and adaptation of our upper plot has to be definitively solved so the depositary is capable of admitting at least a limited number of kittens from the street in danger of their lives. We won’t accept kittens from breeders with not castrated cats. The big asset of 2012 was that more adult cats than kittens found new homes after a very long time. We thank all who helped us and offerred their selfless aid. Depozitum Žikov-Hana Fuksová As of 31 December 2012, 44 cats including kittens were in care of the depositary Admissions: 28 cats Homes found for: 17 female cats, tomcats and kittens Vaccinations: 22 animals Spayed/neutered: 17 animals Medical treatment: 17 Deaths: 4 The last year was characterized by abandoned kittens. Therefore we focused on education in the field of neutering and spaying as the only ethical, efficient and economically sustainable regulation of populations of abandoned cats. We work at a place where spaying/neutering of pets is not commonplace. We distributed about 1,400 leaflets on the benefits of spaying/neutering, answered about 100 queries regarding specific problems with cats, including practical demonstrations of applying antiparasitic drugs. We co-operate with people who care at their own expense for abandoned cats in our region. Thanks to them we succeeded in mapping the situation of stray cats in Sušice, in spaying/neutering a substantial part of them and in releasing them back to their site where they are provided supplemental food and where they have thermally insulated cat houses. Many thanks to Ms Marková, Ms Mihalčíková and Ms Kočová for their help and care for the cats. With a view of improving accommodation of cats and of facilitating care for them, we had the electrical power distribution repared and arranged Internet access. Thanks to this fact, you can also find our depositary on the Facebook. The depositary organised open days on the following occasions: on 17 February – The World Cats Day; 7-9 April – Easter Holidays; 18 Aug – The International Day of Abandoned Cats and Candle Vigils; 4 Oct – the World Animals Day; and between 23 Dec 2012 – 1 Jan 2013. Our thanks to all who visited our cats. We offer the cats on the sites of the; on the sites of kocky on-line; on Facebook site of the Society and on the Facebook site of our depositary. We have expanded the offer of cats to other sites, e.g. Nalezenci šumaváci; also the periodical Sušické listy as well as the surgery of husband and wife MVDr. Švejda, whom we thank for care for cats, for discounts granted, for occasional deferment of payment, for transport of cats to surgeries and back home; for their willingness to come immediately; and for gifts for the cats. We thank all people who help us. Depositary Náchod - Sandra Jirásková As of 31 Dec.2012 , 15 animals were in care of the depositary. The depositary in Náchod is not large; although only Miss Sandra Jirásková cares for them, its activity is not insignificant. Admissions: 9 cats Home found for: 10 cats Vaccinations: 26 Neutering/spaying: 6 Medical treatment: 4 (rhinitis, ocular discharge; nothing serious this year) Deaths: 0 The depositary took part in 3 adoption exhibitions, namely Exhibition for the cats on 22 where 4 out of 5 cats found new homes; the Dream of Animals exhibition on 22 Sept, where unfortunately no cat found a new owner and home; and Exhibition for Cats on 11 November, where 3 out of 4 cats found new homes. At the exhibitions we always make presentations of our depositary, hand out educational materials and sell small items, mostly books. We talk with the visitors, anwser their questions and are glad to give advices; also, our activity can be supported by any gift or sum of money. In most cases, we also get sponsorship gifts in the form of food, litter and fanciers’equipment, which is a big help for the activity of our depositary. The depositary also offers virtual adoption of cats not suitable for physical adoption. Our senior tomcat Macek was adopted by Mr Orságh, who regularly sends contributions to his maintenance. We advertise the cats on the sites of the depositary, of the First Society, on the sites of www.kocky-online.cz and further on the Facebook of the Society and on advertisement websites. If possible, we place ads also in consulting rooms of vet doctors or in pet shops. The basic problem of our depositary is that we are not successful at finding homes for cats which prevents us to admit other cats. Our deposit is small and cats live here with us in home conditions. They have at their disposal a large garden and they can also safely move in surrounding areas. In the garden there are heat insulated booths for shy cats; they stay with us but live only outdoors. With cats who live outdoors all year long, we care for quality of their nutrition; the cats are healthy and content. In 2012, we took part in two charity events: the Easter Tree of fulfilled cats wishes and the same event at Christmas. In both cases, we were successful in getting from donors a plenty of food, litter, vet preparations and also financial contributions. You can find details on the events on our sites. We thank very much all sponsors and donors. We appreciate any help for which we and our cats are very much grateful. Depositary Prague – husband and wife Dan and Hanka Zelinka As of 31 Dec.2012 nine cats were in care of the depositary, of which 7 living indoors (Packa, Pařez, Špalík, Zorka, Valdík, Karlík and Čenda) and 2 shy cats living outdoors (Bezva and Dedly). One cat was spayed. Dan and Hanka Zelinka provide help to abandoned cats, cats living at large and handicapped cats. They send cat stories to the Society website, see here. Depositary Láz u Příbrami - Soňa Jahelková Ms Jahelková cares for 14 foundlings, of which 9 friendly cats at home and 5 neutered shy cats in thermally insulated beds in the attic and in the garden. Vaccinations: 9. Medical treatment: 7. Put to eternal sleep: 3. The depositaries Příbor, Bohumín, Žikov and Náchod attended both the spring and Christmas events Tree of Cats Wishes organised by Devět životů /Nine Lives/ association. All cats who wished to get gifts were given presents. We thank both the organizers and donors! Society’s Committee The seat of the Society in Černošice - Alice Oppová and Jiří Oppa cared for 14 cats as of 31 Dec 2012, out of which 6 at home and 8 spayed/neutered cats outdoors, whom they daily provide food; they also provide deworming and, if necessary, medical treatment. Five cats were vaccinated and 18 cats obtained medical treatment, including treatment of bites of the tomcat Mourek the Secretary due to his fights with tomcat Mikeš; conservative treatment of ruptured knee ligament of the right hind limb; and treatment of tomcat Ťap due to renal insufficiency. Ťap had to be put to sleep on 23 September at 5:45 p.m.. Alice Oppová is the chairperson of the Society. She ensures operations of the association; assistance in preparing requests for grants and subsidies; communication with the depositaries, with members, sponsors and donors, and with allied societies in the Czech Republic and abroad, with umbrella bodies of animal protection in the Czech Republic; the operation of a nonstop info centre, Society’s websites; and organisation of events or petition campaigns, e.g. Petition against entry of gamekeeping in the UNESCO list. Jiří Oppa is a treasurer/economist of the Society and maintains its websites. Jana Petrželková - Prague 9 As of 31 Dec 2012 Ms Petrželková cared for 3 tomcats including adopted Míša. Ms Petrželková is vice-chairperson and accountant of our Society. She helps with clerical work, management and accounting. She writes stories about tomcats Máťa, Čára and Míša, attends all meetings and organises help to impecunious fanciers. For instance she organised a collection to the benefit of an old lady who uses her small pension to care for several cats living outdoors and for an old dog. Thanks to many donors the cats have full stomachs; the dog’s ears were cured; besides, Ms Petrželková also arranged a housing benefit for the old lady. See here. Miroslava Richterová – Prague 2 As of 31 Dec 2012 she cared for 2 own cats at home and for 5 neutered shy cats in the cottage area Mokropsy, whom she provides food and veterinar care. She had 1 tomcat neutered and arranged his adoption in Jílové. She co-operates with the media within the framework of adoption exhibitions and other cat related events, proliferates education, distributes leaflets and information on booths for outdoor cats and sends us links to news and interesting things from the press and on the Internet. Markéta Holečková – Prague 3 As of 31 Dec 2012 she cared for 8 own cats vaccinated the year before; she provided food to 1 shy cat that cannot be trapped; she helps us with leaflets. She attended the assembly of the Society and she helps at the mini asylum home at Haškova street in Prague 7 of PSOZ association. Conclusion As of 31 Dec 2012, the depositaries and committee members cared for altogether 260 abandoned cats including kittens. In the course of years there were altogether 189 admissions of cats including kittens; new homes were found for altogether 127 cats including cittens; altogether 94 female cats and male cats were spayed/neutered; altogether 50 animals were vaccinated; altogether 56 animals were given medical treatment. Regrettably, altogether 37 cats including kittens have died or had to be humanely put to sleep. The Society’s Depositary in Bohumín was given a CZK 20,000 grant from Nadace OKD for the project „Depositary Kočky Bohumín /Cats Bohumín/ – healthy cats in healthy environment“, a subsidy of CZK 20,000 from the city of Bohumín for spaying/neutering of abandoned cats, and a contribution of CZK 83,000 from Nadace ČEZ (ČEZ Foundation) for the project „Bohumín –the city with healthy cats“. Within its possibilities the Society provided financial help to cover costs of feeding and veterinary treatment to animal rights activists and cat feeders from those municipalities, who refused to co-operate on capture and spaying/neutering of abandoned cats. We thank all people who took a female or male cat from us. We thank our donors, sponsors, helpful veterinary doctors and foodder sellers for their favour and support last year. We thank the City of Bohumín, OKD Foundation and ČEZ Foundation for the support of the depositary in Bohumín. We thank to allied associations for the protection of animals and to the Nine Lives association for their co-operation and significant help. For more information on the activities of our depositaries, see here: Příbor Bohumín Žikov Náchod www.kockaapravo.cz/ospolecnosti For the period from 1 January 2012 till 31 December 2012
Economic result: as at 31 Dec 2012 the First Cat Rights Society has shown profit of CZK 205,815. from 1 Jan 2011 to 31 Dec 2011 Activity of depositories and individual members of the Society between 1 Jan 2011 and 31 Dec 2011 Depository Příbor - Václav Vlček As of 31 Dec 2011 altogether 39 cats were in care of the depository, of which 35 adult cats, 3 adolescent cats and 1 kitten. During 2011, 19 homeless kittens and 3 adult cats were admitted. Most animals were in bad health condition and had to receive urgent treatment, in particular of eye ailments, malnutrition, pneumonia, injuries by cars, scabies etc. All adult and young cats are regularly treated for both internal and external parasites. Adult cats are being spayed/neutered. Admissions: 22 animals, adoptions: 3 adult cats and 16 kittens vaccinations: 3 adult cats and 15 kittens Neutered/spayed: 22 female cats and 10 tomcats (altogether 32) medical treatment provided to: 14 cats and kittens during 2011, due to serious/incurable deceases 3 adult cats and 1 little kitten had to be humanely put to sleep Kittens and friendly adult female cats and tomcats are placed in the offer of the First Cat Rights Society, and offerred at other web sites and via „Avízo“ sites. The support of various petition campaigns has already become tradition. The depository took part in two adoption exhibitions and, for the sixth time, organised the „International Homeless Animals Day and Candle Vigils for Deceased Animals“ with significant attendance of the public. The depository distributes and places enlightenment materials concerning spaying/neutering of cats e.g. in veterinary consulting rooms petshops and at adoption exhibitions. Mr Vlček has answered almost 200 enquiries over Internet. In 2011, the depository has again dealt with problems concerning admittance of new animals because cats who were admitted earlier and for whom new homes could not be found for various reasons, significantly reduce the depositary’s capacity. In addition, the refuge faces problems with transport of animals to vet doctors; it needs at least one voluntary to stand in and assist in care for ill animals. Unfortunately, vandals present another problem as well as those people for whom the asylum is a thorn in their flash and who wilfully damage not only the land leased to the depositary and its fencing but accommodation areas as well. The worst threat currently imminent to the deposit is a complete discontinuance of its activity due to the termination of lease of premises where the animals are placed. Positive phenomenon not only in 2001 was the increasing number of citizens interested in the life of cats in the depository as well as in their assistence to adult and young cats. Depository Bohumín - Miri Kocurová As of 31 Dec 2011, altogether 60 cats including kittens were in the depository The 2011 was in the sign of building adjustments and improvements and moving to new premises with subsequent quarantine related adaptations. Despite of this frantic activity, the asylum home did not interrupted its activities: Admitted: 105 cats, Homes found for: 59 female cats, tomcats and kittens vaccinated: 6 animals, spayed/neutered: 84 animals medical treatment: 111, deaths: 22 During the year the depositary Bohumín also organised events for wide public: 2 forums on cats attended by vet doctor; adoption exhibition connected with an auction; anohter adoption exhibition, and Christmas auction of artefacts of voluntaries. The cats willingly assisted in all of these events The depositary in Bohumín co-operates with Příbor depositary in some events and has good relationships with the town representatives. Educational activities, distribution of leaflets etc. are a matter of course. Depositary Žikov - Hana Fuksová Although the depositary in Žikov has been active for more than 18 months, the local people still get used to or learn about its existence. Therefore, the first half of 2001 in particular devoted to making the depositary visible, to enlightenment and to presenation of the First Cats Rights Society Altogether 37 cats lived in the depositary on 31 Dec 2011. During the year: admissions: 29 cats, adoptions: 17, spayed/neutered cats: 53, treatment received: altogether 85 both adult and young cats vaccinated: 29 animals, deaths: 4 (3x FIP, 1x kidney malfunction) The depositary works at a place where spaying/neutering of cats has almost been unknown as yet and the competent authorities do not deal with the issue; therefore much effort was spent not only education and dissemination of leaflets, but to spaying/neutering, in particular of cats living at large, who were after surgery returned to their original locality. Much thanks in particular has to be given to the vet surgery of MVDr. Švejda in Sušice as well as to all voluntaries who provided competent help and cared for the cats and feeded them throughout the year. On Easter, the depositary has organised Open Days attended by many cat friends and it has also organised celebration of the International Day of Abandoned Animals and candle vigils. The depositary has also represented the Society at the event held on the occasion of celebrations of the World Animals Day organised by the Animals Protection Foundation at Praha Pankrác. The cats have obtained many gifts at all events. Thank you. We succeeded in establishing co-operation with cat friends who received a number of shy cats at their farm and secluded dwelling. They are doing fine, live at large while receiving human care. Depositary Náchod - Sandra Jirásková The depositary in Náchod is in care of Ms Sandra Jirásková. Although it is not large, its activities cannot be overlooked. As of 31 Dec 12, 17 cats were in the depository + 2 cats cared for by their finder (to whom the depository provides fodder and veterinary care). Admissions: 13 cats, Adoptions: 10 animals, Vaccinations : 13 animals, Spayed/neutered: 13 animals medical treatment: 7, death: 0 Ema and Edík were born in the depositary this year. The depositary took part in 2 adoption exhibitions and 2 cats found new homes. Although most cats prefer staying inside, another insulated booth for outdoor cats was placed in the depositary’s garden. The depositary has 2 rooms reserved for cats, namely a small quarantine area and a large playroom. Tomcat Macek was virtually adopted (by Mr Orság). For the next year we are planning building an outdoor „aviary“ for cats. Depositary Čepřovice - Ing. Naděžda Müllerová She cares for abandoned cats in a hunters‘ village Čepřovice near Volyně where life is really hard for cats. Admissions: 6 kittens, adoptions: 0, vaccinations: 0, medical treatment:2, spaying/neutering: 2 cats, deaths: 0 The big asset of Ms Müllerová consists in her proliferation of education and distribution of leaflets informing on spaying/neutering of cats Depositary Rodvínov - Květa Senarová She cares for abandoned cats in Rodvínov near Jindřichův Hradec. We thank all who adopted cats from us. We thank donators, sponsors, helpful vet doctors and fodder vendors for their favour and support last year. We thank to all allied associations, to the City of Bohumín, to the Foundation for the Protection of Animals and to the Devět životů /Nine Lives/ association for their co-operation and significant help. Result from operations: loss CZK 32.035,56 Kč from 1 Jan 2010 to 30 Dec 2010 Activity of deposits and of individual Society members from 1 Jan 2010 till 31 Dec 2010 Deposit Příbor As at 31 Dec 2010 altogether 40 cats are in care of deposit Příbor; of this 36 adult cats, 2 grown up kittens and 2 kittens. 26 homeless kittens and 6 adult cats were received in the period. Many kittens and some cats were in very bad health condition. Veterinary care was provided to 17 kittens and 9 cats (tumors, dog bites, injuries caused by cars, pneumonia, problems with breathing, inflamed eyes, ear scabies etc. see). Both internal an external parasites are regularly removed from both cats and kittens and the adult cats are neutered. The oldest cat is 14, the youngest members of the deposit is about 4.5 months. Altogether 6 cats and 26 kittens were received Homes were found for 5 adult cats and 22 kittens 4 adult cats and 16 kittens were vaccinated 14 cats and 5 tomcats, altogether 19 animal, were neutered. During 2010, 4 cats died (3 seriously ill, 1 after serious injury by car). Kittens and friendly adult cats and tomcats are placed to the offer of the First Cats Rights Society see, of Deposit Příbor see, kocky-on line see, Deposit Bohumín see, to the sites of local veterinary doctors and fler.cz. Also advertisement on „Avízo“ site is used, etc. With increasing number of received kittens and adults cats problems were growing due to insufficient capacity of accommodating areas and quarantine room so that various rooms had to be leased for short terms. I regularly attend the petition campains aimed at protection of animals against torture and events e.g. International homeless animals day, home finding exhibitions etc. where I hand out educational materials in particular on beneficiency of neutering of cats. On 21 Aug 2010 the fifth local celebration of the International Homeless Animals Day and candle vigils for deceased and tortured animals took place on the premises of the deposit Příbor. The number of visitors and the interest of local people for the event were surprisingly high. Billboards were made for the event which acquanted the visitors with life of cats in the deposit and its activity up to now see. In our advisory activity on the internet we have answered 247 questions relating in particular to diseases of cats and some untypical living manifestations of cats. In 2011 the problem of lease of parcels will have to be solved as the lease terminates on 31 Dec 2011 and if the leases are not prolonged the deposit would have to end its activity. A positive phenomenon in 2010 was the increasing number of citizens interested in the life of cats in the deposit as well as in potential help or assistence in care for cats and kittens. Our big thanks for help to the First Cats Rights Society, to sponsors, local vet doctors and all who help us. Put down by Václav Vlček, on 3 Jan 2011 depozitum Příbor Deposit Bohumín As at 31 Dec 2010 altogether 36 cats including kitten were in care of the deposit. The last year was literally crazy and incredibly stuffed with events. During the whole year we received a large number of cats with various diseases and injuries. Only thanks to the help and financial support of good people around us we could succeed in our demanding work. Without you all we could not have realised all this. All our successes we only achieved thanks to the good people who are not indifferent to the fate of these cats. Numbers speak for themselves: Neutering of cats: 22 (for CZK 15,290) Neutering of tomcats:14 (for CZK 7,566) Received cats: 88 Homes for cats found: 54 Deaths:18 (we are sorry, our help is not always successful)) Medical care and veterinary preparations: CZK 29,089 Fodder, litter and diets: CZK 35,188 We have altogether spent CZK 87,133 for care for cats and their basic needs. Litter and fodder is not included which is contributed by ourselves or which people bring directly to the asylum home and which we obtain at home finding exhibitions or other events we organise. And we really work hard. We organised two home finding exbitions. The first one on 24 April 2010 and the second one on 6 Nov 2010. Three chats on cats with lecturs on felinoteraphy, cat and care for her, and fodder. We attended Christmas Fairs and of course, all the time we try to educate people by leaflets containing information on advantages of cat neutering. We also operate already 9 posts with 10 voluntaries where we feed shy neutered cats and at the same time monitor sick or new animals, capture and heal them and (if they are friendly) try to find homes for them. 2 regular and 2 occasional voluntaries come directly to the deposit and help with the cleaning and care for cats. One of the voluntaries cares for our web sites. As you surely have noticed, there is definitely less stray cats and kittens in the streets of Bohumín; ill cats have absolutely disappeared and those shy neutered ones may now live among us with dignity on the posts under our control. A well-fed cat is not ill, does not proliferate diseases and a neutered cat does not bring to the world other unwanted kittens. Unfortunately, we have met in our work not only good and helpful people but also envious and hateful persons who attempted to thwart our activity with a ban on keeping a large number of cats on the flat of our Housing Cooperative in which the deposit has its seat. Fortunately, thanks to your support and in particular to the help of the Municipal Office Bohumín, which allocated us substitute areas, which are much larger and more beautiful, we have a place to go to and we can continue in our activities. There please keep us in your favour also in the new year as we cannot do without your help. We promise that the new deposit will be built with immense love to these cats and that thanks to your help the cats will have a paradise there. Already now things are coming in which are necessary to furnish these rooms. We thank very much to you all and in return, we prepare a big surprise in the new rooms – but we tell you more about it later. Put down by Miri Kocurová, on 3 Jan 2011 deposit Cats Bohumín Deposit Žikov Our deposit has seen a lot of changes in 2010. At the beginning of the year thanks to coverages/ press news: Probably only three facilities care for stray cats in the Highlands (Magazin.ceskenoviny.cz 18 Jan 2010); Hana Fuksová from Jihlava became cat mother from day to day. Floods in 2002 are said to be the only thing to blame. (tn.cz 31 Jan 2010) and a Coverage from the deposit of Ms Hanka Fuksová (Czech Radio Region Highlands) there was an increased interest of people in problems of abandoned cats. Many cat friends and people who for various reasons cannot have cats in their homes visited our deposit. They played with them, caressed them and brought them delicacies. Probably thanks to this fact the number of new homes of cats was bigger than the number of cats received in the deposit for the first time in 10 years and most of them are doing well, except for cat Bobitka, who was run over by a car in her new home, and tomcat Jurášek died of FIP see. At the beginning of June due to my health condition the deposit had to be moved to Šumava (the Bohemian Forest). For serious reasons I could not care for the cats so that the care was taken over from June to November 2010 by my mother Ms Anna Špačková. She provided everything necessary for the cats and sent an application for attendance in Days of open deposits and beside receipt of new foundlings she completely substituted for my work. Much thanks to her and also to the First Cats Rights Society for providing areas and help with moving the deposit. Many thanks also to all who came and help with the moving. Everybody who took part in moving a cat asylum will surely understand! Many thanks also to Ms Zde’nka Plachá from the deposit of the civic association Helping Animals Through Art, who adopted three shy cats for whom she has in her deposit in Jílové by Prague more favourable conditions. Thanks to help of all of you everything came out well and the cats are much more contended on the new premises than in their former asylum home. Even the shy cats come for caressing and, in particular, they cannot be frightened by anyone at times when we are not with them, as was the case in the former rooms in the asylum home in Jihlava. A big debt we feel towards the abandoned cats from the Highlands is the fact that after we moved nobody cares for them in the region and some people, who want to help them, carry them to us, i.e. to Žikov which is 300 km from there. Unfortunately we cannot help all animals. At present we care for 38 cats and provide food, caressing and veterinary care for them. All cats are neutered and vaccinated and all parasites are regularly removed from them. In 2010 the Central Warehouse of DM Drugstore gave us a sponsorship donation, Charity Event In Favour of Moravian Deposits, and there were other sponsors, of which we name first the significant sponsors and donators from JIA, namely husband and wife Toman, Ms Blažková, Miss Fialová, Mr Mutl, Ms JUDr. Salichová, Ms Jiřina Viková, Ms Václavková with her friend, and Veterinary Clinic of MVDr. Bártík, which beside providing cheaper care for us also donated us litter and fodder. Other significant sponsors are: Ms Mgr. Pluhařová from Pilsen, who virtually adopted tomcat Mikeš, Ms Zajíčková with her husbend and Ms Tomášová with her daughter from Telč, Miss Charvátová from Třebíč and Ms Baštová from Ústí nad Labem. Help and support is also provided to us by Veterinary surgery of MVDr. Švejda in Sušice. Thank you very much. State as of 31 Dec 2010: 38 cats including grown up kittens are in care of the deposit Neutering: 81 cats Vaccination: 27 cats including kittens Received: 27 cats including kittens New homes: 46 cats including kittens Treatment: 28 cats Death: 1 Put down by Ms Hana Fuksová on 3 Jan 2011, deposit Žikov Deposit Náchod As of 31 Dec 2010 there were 18 cats in the deposit. In 2010 we found new homes for 6 cats – Cipísek, Matěj, Amosek, Romík, Cindy, Abi and Zrzka, who goes to the new owners in January 2011. We received 8 cats, 4 kittens were born in the deposit. We received namely: tomcat Matěj (already in a new home), kittens Cindy (new home), Cécile and Celine, injured Toník, and kittens Deniska, Dituška and Daneček were the latest acquisitions. These kittens receive medical treatment at teh moment so that they are not presented in the offer on our sites. Born in the deposit were: Amosek (new home),Anette, Abigale and Artík (unfortunately died a week after birth). We performed 11 neuterings and all cats got vaccination, worms were removed from them and got treatment against parasites. State as of 31 Dec 2010 18 cats including kittens Neutering: 11 cats Vaccination: 11 cats including kittens Received: 8 cats New homes: 6 cats including kittens. Throughout the year Mr Orság contributed to our activity. He virtually adopted Malenka and gave us CZK 3,600 in the year. Malenka is already healthy and ready for adoption, therefore Mr Orság virtually adopted tomcat Macek. This year we were paid invoices for veterinary care for CZK 8,507,- Kč. This does not include all expenditures because we pay for some types of treatments in cash with private money, e.g. for urgent care. We took part in two home finding exhibitions, Animals‘ Dream and the 23rd home finding exhibitions of PSOZ, at each we found new home for 1 cat. In our garden we built heat insulated cottages for cats this year so they have a place to hide when they are out. But more often they stay at home. Till vaccination the kittens stay only at home and do not go out. At the moment we have two rooms reserved for the cats: one is a small quarantine room and the other larger is for healthy cats. Otherwise the cats usually stay with us at home so that they are used to the home environment; they are housetrained and well socialized. We are planning to build a cat aviary to be used from the spring till the autumn. Put down by Miss Sandra Jirásková, on 30 Dec 2010 deposit Náchod Ms Ing. Naděžda Müllerová - Volyně She cares for abandoned cats in Čepřovice by Volyně; half of the inhabitants of the vilage are huntsman so that life is hard for cats there. Last year she had 3 stray cats neutered, took 2 cats in her care, but 6 neutered domesticated cats got lost – probably the huntsmen shot them dead. She sent a letter to the President and to the Ministry of Agriculture. The answer of the President’s speaker reads „it is necessary to file a complaint at the police or at the body of state administration of game management …“ whereas minister Ing. Ivan Fuks wrote: „I definitely cannot agree that the huntsmen’s lobby misuses valid laws …“. Now she prepares a petition campaign, which will be presented on our sites. Ms Soňa Jahelková - Láz u Příbrami She cares for 16 foundlings, of which 9 friendly cats at home and 7 neutered shy cats in heat insulated dens in the attic and in the garden. Last year she found homes for 3 foundlings. She cured and vaccinated them removed parasites from them and gave them to good people. She regularly checks their condition. The cats are very well. Husband and wife Hanka and Daniel Zelinka– Prague They care for 4 cats including tomcat Kulich and for other 4 foundlings at their cottage including Dedly Mour In addition, Hanka and Dan Zelinka provide help to handicapped animals living at large, proliferate education in the field of neutering and care for cats and Hanka works in a ZOO as nurse of water birds. Board of the Society Seat of the Society in Černošice - Alice Oppová and Jiří Oppa care for 15 cats last year, of which 6 at home and 9 neutered shy cats on the street and near church in Černošice, to whom they bring food every day, remove worm from them and provide medicinal care if necessary. 2 captured cats Trixi and Týnka were neutered; 8 cats got medical treatment, including the tomcat Mour – the secretary; kitten Tulísek died. Alice Oppová is chairman of the society, ensures operation of the organisation, communicates with deposits, members, sponsors and donators, with affiliate societies in the Czech Republic and abroad, with top bodies of animal protection in the Czech Republic, cares for operation of a nonstop infocentre and of sites of the Society and for organisation of events e.g. Official celebration of the International Homeless Animals Day in Černošice baptism of book „Animals are our neighbours“ and she attended both workshops „How to deal with destitution of animals and bad care for them? Are animals protected by legislation?“ see report. Jiří Oppa is manager of the Society who cares for its websites. Ms Jana Petrželková - Praha 9 – last year she cared for 3 tomcats including Míša, „captain Peeman“ at home. Ms Petrželková is our vice-chairman, accounting clerk and irreplaceable person who helps us with administrative work, requests for grants, economy and accounting; she is author of stories about tomcats Máťa, Čára and Míša and attends all events, including the International Homeless Animals Day, baptism of books, annual meetings and assemblies of our cat commonwealth. In short: without her we would cease to exist – miaow! Ms Miroslava Richterová - Praha 2, Trojická She cares for 2 own cats at home and fo 4 neutered shy cats in a cottage colony in Mokropsy and provides food and veterinary care for them. Ms Richterová succesfully cooperates with the media as to the home finding exhibitions and other cat events, she communicates well with the cat protecting public, proliferates education and sends us links to reports and interesting news from the press and the internet. Conclusion The deposits and Society members have cared for altogether 183 abandoned cats including kittens last year. They received altogether 154 cats including kittens and found home for altogether 136 cats including kittens. They had altogether 138 cats including tomcats from deposits neutered and besides the Society paid invoices for neutering of abandoned cats to the protectors and feeders of cats from those municipalities, which, being asked to catch and neuter abandoned cats refused to co-operate in a controlling program and settle their invoices for neutering. We thank all who took cats to their loving care, we thank donators, sponsors, obliging veterinary doctors and fodder sellers for their favour and support last year, we thank to affiliate societies and to the Foundation for the Protection of Animals for co-operation and help. From 1 January 2010 till 31 December 2010
Result from operations: loss CZK 41.64 The result from operations does not include an amount of CZK 80,000 which the Society received on 31 Dec 2010 from the Foundation for the Protection of Animals as a grant for 2011 for castrations of abandoned cats. The Annual Report - 2009 The deposit of Mr.Václav Vlček – Příbor On the date of 31.12.2009 in a care of the deposit there were 44 cats – 41 adult cats and 3 kittens. During the year the deposit assumed 19 abandoned, sick or lost kittens. 4 adult cats and 16 kittens were adopted by new owners. He managed to give several kittens to a an adoption even in Prague and Prague surrounding. 7 cats were given ambulatory care or were operated (cancer of lacteal gland 2x, injured spine and broken leg, operation of tumor near brain, operation of torn spleen and ruptured diaphragm, hard dog biting and illness due to affection of petrol substances). Last cat had to be treated and operated on 26.12.2009. 12 cats and 6 male cats were spayed/neutered. 15 kittens and 4 adult cats were vaccinated. All cats were rid of parasites. The oldest inhabitant of deposit is 15 years old black cat. All cats are feed every day and they are provided of fresh water. The cats are housed in 2 smaller locations and in several modified and warmed sheds and haylofts. Adult cats and kittens are placed to new owners through „Agreement on cat adoption“ when new owner have to sign conditions of cat care and have to agree with visits. Cats placed to a new home are visited according to possibilities. Kittens and domesticated cats are advertised on the web of The First society for cat rights, on the web kocky-online, by Mrs. Kocurová in Bohumín and in advertisement pages in Ostrava and Bohumín. Huge problems are with abandoned and lost kittens – the number of them increases every year and it’s managed with increasing difficulties. In October 2009 my deposit took part in Exposition of cats in Ostrava. Thanks to gained contacts several cats were placed to a new home. Whole action was organized by Mrs. Kocurová. The deposit was also concerned with catching feral cats in Čeladná and Frenštát p. R., where 12 cats were caught and spayed/neutered. In August 2009, was organized in Příbor. the Day of animals without home and candy vigils The visitors were given edifying stuff about caring of cats and spaying/neutering. Edifying stuff is continuously available in veterinary ambulance. We also took part in several petition actions. Within an advisory activity we answered more than 200 questions about cat problems, illness, spaying/neutering and so on. Great thanks to helpful vets and First society for cat rights for wide and all-round help. The deposit of Mrs. Miroslava Kocurová – Bohumín As at the beginning of every year we sum up our success and failures. Last year we assumed high number of cats and many of them were ill. From eye inflammation, over Chlamydia, gum and respiratory infections, infection diseases up to operation of broken bones or bites. Moreover, at the end of December, several cats were poisoned by a food we were given, so we enter the new year with a debt to AB vet clinic. Besides, we assume „winter“ sick-cats, we must buy more cures, pay new analysis and examinations. Moreover we have several chronic patients and that means more medicines, special diet and food supplements. Thus we don’t have much money left for paying up our debt. Anyway, we think that the year 2009 was successful in our deposit. Death rate was low, the success in curing was high and we placed a lot of cats in new homes. Besides, we contribute articles on a web of First society for cat rights and to a newspaper of Bohumin called Oko. Two tv shows were broadcasted in municipal TIK and in ČT1 in news from region. On our web we help with advertising of cats even from private finders. On 7 places we take care of spayed/neutered timid cats. We catch fearless cats, we learn them to live in a flat and then we give them to an adoption. We thank so much to five voluntary „feeders“ on this places, one volunteer who helps us with cleaning and taking care of cats in our deposit and another volunteer, who create and sustain our web. Thank to you all we managed to assume 76 cats, cure 53 cats, give home to 56 cats, catch and spay/neuter 40 cats and feed 25 spayed/neutered timid cats. Unfortunately, 11 cats died, we commemorate them. Currently, we have 17 cats including kittens, and we keep ensuring food for spayed/neutered timid cats. The deposit of Mrs. Hana Fuksová – Jihlava This year our deposit moved to a new bigger place and thus we can help to a higher number of cats. Currently we have a capacity of 50 cats + quarantine for 15 newcomers and quarantine for 10 ill cats. Also we have an opportunity to go out with cats, what was welcomed by everybody with a joy, especially in summer time, see photo album of our deposit. Currently I care about 40 cats in our deposit, who are cuddled, feed and given a vet care. And I care about 30 stray abandoned cats, who are regularly feed and given a vet care. I had them spayed/neutered and next spaying/neutering will continue in spring. They all have polystyrene sheds and they do well (within the limits of possibility). All cats, stray and those in the deposit are rid of parasites. The fearless ones and kittens are vaccinated. This year, central warehouse of drugstore DM, Wholesale trade Plaček s.r.o. and http://www.salac.cz/" target="_blank"> Wholesale trade Salač made a donation to us. And we also were given a donation by lots of private sponsors, at random Mrs. Blažková, who gives us, together with her children, lot of candies and toys; married couple Tomanovi; ms. Gajewska, who helps with running of the deposit whenever we need. And one of our most significant private sponsor are Mrs. Václavková with her boyfriend, who organize a collection of a litter from people, who decided to support our deposit this way regularly every month. Because we have so many cats, it is the biggest help. Moreover, they made great polystyrene sheds for cats, which ensured a warm place to sleep for our four-leg friends. Besides, we gained food and litter from Zoo Jihlava, which organized Christmas collection of food for abandoned cats. We thank so much to everybody who contributed to us. Special thanks to MVDr. Bártík from vet centre , MVDr. Okřín and MVDr. Orthová for kind attitude to all our cats and especially for their effort to satisfy us with lower prices. Last year we carried out: 50 new assumptions, 65 spaying/neutering, 69 vaccination, 35 curing, 21 placing to a new home and 8 deaths (3x FIP, 1x renal failure, 3x herpesvirus) The deposit of Mrs. Sandra Jirásková – Řešetova Lhota, Náchod She takes care of 13 found cats of which there are 6 baby kittens (3-4 months old, 1 female cat and 5 male cats), 5 older kittens (cca 8 months old, 1 female cat and 5 male cats), and 2 adult cats (female cat 1 and half years old, male cat cca 3 years old). They all are rid of all parasites (intenal and external) and vaccinated, except virtually adopted cat called Malenka. Adult cats are called Josefína and Macek. Josefina comes from a cat group from Jaroměř-Josefov, she was caught first. We thought she was pregnant but we were mistaken. After we found out that she was overweighed, she was spayed. She is vaccinated and rid of parasites. Macek is timid outdoor cat. He is cured for his problem with loss of stamina. He had his oral cavity operated, he had 4 teeth pulled out and gum treated. After the operation he is doing well, he is rid of parasites and castrated, but we can’t give him to adoption to a new owner, because he is very distrustful and afraid of people. Last year I assumed 20 cats, I had 2 spaying/neutering done, had 13 vaccinations done and rid all cats of parasites and gave 8 kittens to adoption. Mrs. Květa Senarová – Rodvínov u Jindřichova Hradce She takes care of 15 abandoned cats, including 3 new foundlings – male cats, which one of them lost his paw in an iron trap. She also feeds 10 spayed/neutered timid cats in Rodvínov and provides them vet care and she also feeds 4 cats right in Jindřichův Hradec. Last year she assumed 3 cats and spayed/neutered 12 cats, of which 9 of them were from her neighbors. Mrs. Soňa Jahelková – Láz u Příbrami She takes care of 17 found cats, of which 6 of them are spayed/neutered outdoor timid cats and 11 home cats. This year was very sad for our deposit. 4 cats have gone, 2 outdoor cats, 11 and 12 years old and 2 home cats, 13 and 15 years old. We adopted 3 kittens from a temporary deposit of Society of cat friends IČO: 27035905; address: Příbram, Rožmitálská 276. Adopted kittens grow well, they weight 3kg, 3,90kg and 4,5kg and they are doing well. 3 male cats were neutered, of which one timid male cat and 2 female cats are still on diet. All cats were rid of parasites and 11 cats (except timid cats) were vaccinated with „triple-combination“. Mrs. Miroslava Richterová – Praha 2, Trojická She takes care of 2 own cats at home and of 5 spayed/neutered timid cats in cottage colony Mokropsy, where she feeds them and provide a vet care. Moreover, Mrs. Richterová publicize „adopting expositions“ including all cat actions, obligingly communicate with protective public, she educates and she sends links for news and interesting things for our web page. Couple Hanka and Daniel Zelinkovi – Mláka, Sezimovo Ústí, Praha Together with their parents they take care of 7 found and spayed/neutered cats in Mláka and Sezimovo Ústí and one found male cat – Kulíšek in Prague. Besides, Hanka and Dan provide help to feral, handicapped animals; see They educate about spaying/neutering and caring about cats. Hanka works in a Zoo as a water fowl keeper. Mrs. Mgr. Ema Dřevojánková – Valašské Meziříčí Last year in summer 3 kittens found their way to me. I hope they are with kind people. Šimon was given to an adoption, but he was frightening a Yorkshire terrier, so they gave him back to me. So 4 kittens were given a new home, one is still available. Mrs. Dagmar Klimentová – Bukovany u Kyjova . She takes care of cca 30 cats, to whom she provides vet care and feeding. Unfortunately, communication is poor. The Society committee The seat of the Society in Černošice – Last year Alice Oppová provided a care for a total of 17 cats, of which 4 at home (including Pepina, who died of FIP and Drsoň, who died of extensive carcinoma of mammary gland) and 14 spayed/neutered timid cats outside, to whom she provides feeding and vet care. 2 spaying/neutering, 6 vaccinations, 6 vet treatments, 2 placing to a new home were done. 2 cats died. Mrs. Oppová is a chairwoman of the association, she ensures running of an organization, communicating with deposits, with members, with sponsors and donors, with allied associations from Czech Republic and foreign countries, with animal protection authorities in Czech Republic. Also she ensures nonstop running of an info center, of web pages of Society and organization of actions, For example last year the Day of animals without home and candy vigils. and The baptism of a book called „About a male cat who came at Christmas“. Mrs. Jana Petrželková – Praha 9 – She took care of 3 male cats at home. 6 vaccinations, 1 neutering, 1 vet treatment, 1 placing to a new home were done. Mrs. Petrželková is our vice-chairwoman and an accountant, she helps us with an administration, with management, she writes stories about Máťa, Čára and Míša and she is present at every action, like for example: The baptism of a book called „About a male cat who came at Christmas“ Mrs. Markéta Holečková – Praha 3 – She took care of 3 own cats, of 3 cats in evidence of PSOZ and of 2 cats outside, to whom she gave sheds at the yard of a tenement house and she fed them. Besides she printed lots of educating leaflets for us and she helped us with organization of the baptism of a book called „About a male cat who came at Christmas“ At the conclusion Last year the Society provided a care for a total of 360 cats. She assumed 177 cats and gave home to 112 cats, including kittens. The Society spayed/neutered 137 cats from deposits. Moreover the Society refunded invoices of a cat protectors for spaying/neutering abandoned cats in many municipalities, which refused by letter their request for catching and spaying/neutering abandoned cats and refused to refund invoices for spaying/neutering. We are thankful to everybody, who adopted our cat and gave them their love. We thank to all donors, sponsors, helpful vets and food seller for their favor and support last year. From 1.January to 31.December 2009 It will be displayed at the end of February or at the beginning of March 2010 The Annual Report - 2008 Public education 1/ The Info-centre provides non-stop information on cat care and help service for the public including citizens outside Prague in cases of maltreatment of cats via e-mail: info@kockapravo.cz, alice.oppova@atlas.cz - altogether 4,572 received and 2,939 dispatched answers, information and advice including draft complaints pursuant to section 158 of the code of criminal procedure and complaints of maltreatment of animals. About 2,500 phone calls relating to these issues were answered. 2/ The petition campaign has continued in 2008. Additional 49 sheets with 1,248 signatures were handed over to the parliamentary Petition Committee. The campaign has been under way since 20 May 2003 and has been supported by 20,092 Czech citizens. Thanks to this support, the criminal liability for killing, maltreatmeant or injury to animals and the lowering of criminal liability limit to 14 years of age could be put through in an amendment to the penal law. Sanctions for maltreatment and neglect of animals are provided in §300 a 301. This amendment can undoubtebly be regarded as success. The petition in its present wording has now ceased to be up-to-date. Therefore it will be ended and we will try to create a new one that would appeal in particular to teachers to emphasise respect to life in their education of school and pre-school youth. We not only consider the form of the petition itself but also the choice of a sufficiently known, charismatic personality to support the petition with his/her name. 3/ Homeless Animals Day and candlelight vigils to remind hardship and deaths of abandoned cats and dogs – these innocent victims of overpopulation by reason of human irresponsibility - are beginning slowly to be known. However, as every initiative aiming at improving relationships of people to animals, and in particular to cats in the Czech Republic it will take time to reach this goal. We endevour to make the Czech public aware of the Homeless Animals Day much like as tne National Cats Day is commemorized in Italy on 17th February, which we also remind at our pages. 4/ The Society participates in establisment of new shelters and deposits for stray cats in the Czech Republic by means of its help through both money and last but not lease with its experience. Let us mention the civic association (OS.) Opuštěné kočky Polička registered on 11 March 2008, ID:22679944 and OS.Cínovecké tlapky registered on 30 July 2008, ID: 22728007. 5/ Our activities in 2008 included advice on trapping of shy cats living at large, draft letters to mayors, offer of lending box traps and payment of invoices for neutering of animals who will be given proper care (e.g. to Alena jindrová, Ilona Rykrová, Jitka Svobodová, Pavla Skalošová). 6/ Co-operation with Czech and foreign colleagues and media, for example with LB in Morávek case, with Český deník daily editor Mr Dohnal, with Mr Hub, editor of Camping, cars & caravans, on preparation of screenplay „When animals suffer“ for TV programme „The Czech Nature“. We also co-operate with Best Friends and with Mr Jan Čejka PhD on his amazing booklet „How to help animals the best“. 7/ The Society took part in a professional workshop on the protection of animals in special interest breeding organised by deputies David Šeich and Jeroným Tejc on 4 Dec 08. with poor – zero ! - attendance for cats, see Report 8/ The website of the First Society for Cats Rights reacts to events in the animal protection both at home and abroad. It brings information on the needs and problems relating to cats. It provides not only professional advice, i.e. in the form of laws and public notices but also practical advice on ilnesses of animals, instruction on food. It also draws attention to interesting or important articles in the press and TV programs and brings translations from foreign webs or magazines. It responds to reports on lost or found animals. For entertainment of readers it brings readers‘ stories, presents contests and involves children in the creation of pages. Virtual vigils have met with success. Activities of Society members from 1 Jan till 31 Dec 2008 Mr Václav Vlček – Příbor has cared of a total of 38 abandoned cats including 18 adult cats, 14 tom-cats and 6 kittens as at 31 Dec 2008. The adult cats are neutered and regularly getting rid of parasites. The oldest cat is 16 years of age. Cats are currently in good health condition. They all get regular food: cans, meat, entrails and granules. The cats are accommodated in heat insulated booths on the parcel of the deposit, in an abandoned house, in a barn and in two repaired haylofts. Adult cats and kittens are placed to new owners after siging an „Agreement on cat adoption“ and care for them is regularly checked. Last year: 22 newcomers, of which 4 adult cats and 18 kitten 14 castrations 15 vaccinations 6 outpatient treatments of 4 adults cats and 2 kitten 15 cats found new home, of which 3 adults and 12 kittens, mostly to flats in neighbouring towns 5 deaths (3x knocked down by car, 1x - ? and 1 tiny kitten died of an ilness). Last year, Mr Vlček has continued to have a significant share in education by advice and distribution of leaflets „Stop“ and „Cats– care and neutering“. He supported the petition campaign for efficient animals protection by sending another petition sheet with 52 signatures. On 17 Aug 2008 he organised local celebration of the National Homeless Animals Day and candlelight vigils in Příbor. He sent out educational printed papers to the participants, acqauinted them with activities of his deposit in Příbor and activities of the Society. He sent us a report including photos . His biggest problem in 2008 was the large growth of stray and thrown out kittens and kittens born by strange cats on the plot of the deposit (18 kittens). Ms Soňa Jahelková - Láz u Příbrami cared for a total of 20 foundlings as at 3 Jan 2009, of this 10 in home and 10 outdoor care. All cats except for two tom cats are neutered. The tom cats will be castrated in the spring as soon as it is sure that they do not belong to anybody. Last year: 2 castrations 12 vaccinations 1 medical treatment and 2 kittens on a diet 3 kittens found new home 1 lost cat In addition to trapping, neutering and care for stray cats in the place of her residence she provides education, distributes leaflets, supports the petition campaign and sends stories of her cats. Ms Miroslava Kocurová – Bohumín the following numbers of cats were in the deposit of our member Ms Kocurová as at 31 Dec 2008: 16 wild/shy cats outdoors and in the flat, of this 6+2 are their own and she provides long-term care for 3 others. In co-operation with other cat fans she provides additional feeding, neutering and veterinary care for shy cats at four outdoor sites. They trap friendly cats at the sites and domesticate the. At the same time they accept cats from other finders. They seek to place to homes the domesticable animals by posting leaflets and advertisements at cat web sites including their own site Kočky Bohumín. They also write articles and distribute educational leaflets to family houses in the neighbourhood. E.g. they solve the problem of cats thrown out to containers at Zlatník restaurant at Krásná municipality by an agreement on provision of food to them by Mr Lučan (owner of Zlatník), supplying a large heat-insulated booth including packets with fodder and by agreement on neutering in the spring. A letter to Ms JUDr. Vlasta Parkanová, deputy (saying that the municipalities should follow the law, establish and finance homes for lost and abandoned cats, that the commissions for offences should prosecute offenders in leaving or expelling cats, and that the police should be more energetic in investigating the crimes of mistreating and killing of cats, as overlooking these serious trespasses leads to criminality of children and the youth, that the municipalities should support citizen associations as well as natural person engaged in care for and castration of abandoned cats and cats getting wild, as financial demands of the said persons are considerable lower than costs required by professional health care services, and their attitude to animals is more sensitive as a rule).
